James Blunt - Billboard Hot 100
By the time the single reached American shores in 2006 Blunt-mania
had ran wild throughout the
United States. James Blunt became the
first Brit to have a number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart
since Sir Elton John achieved the same feat with “Candle in the Wind
’97” back in 1997. Everywhere you looked there was James Blunt, he
made appearances on the Oprah Winfrey show as well as Saturday Night
Live. His music was also featured in commercials and in popular
television shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and The OC.
The success and popularity of “You’re Beautiful” turned Blunt into an
international superstar. “Back to Bedlam” sold over 14 million
copies world wide, 3 million of which were sold in the UK alone.
Blunt’s debut album also holds the 2006 Guinness World Record for the
Fastest Selling Album and Highest Selling Album in the UK. At the
2006 Brit Awards Blunt took home top honors for Best British Male Solo
Artist and Best Pop Act. Fans could not get enough of James Blunt
and Blunt delivered by spending most of 2006 touring across the globe.

After a hectic 2006 which was filled with throngs of screaming fans,
countless encounters with the paparazzi, television appearances, and
night after night of live performances, Blunt retreated to the comfy
confines of
Ibiza, Spain in 2007 to begin work on his
next album. Blunt’s sophomore effort “All the Lost Souls” hit records
shelves in September of 2007; the album’s lead single was “1973.”
Critics were on the fence with “All the Lost Souls” some members of the
music press praised Blunt’s second major release while others deemed it
forgettable. Despite the media debate over the album, fans seemed to
love the release. “All the Lost Souls” has put up respectable numbers
selling over 4 million copies internationally to date.
